This picture makes me cry. Look into her eyes. She’s stagnant, yet she speaks. She’s calm and inanimate, yet i seem like i can hear her. I wish i was there when this was painted. I could’ve asked Vermeer why that certain angle, why not a classic portrait painting ? What was the body language about ? She seems a bit sad, don’t you think ? or that’s just one opinion i guess. This for me is eternal. ♥
